Alerts & Notifications
Right alert, right person, right channel — without flooding
Tell FleetCommando which alert types should reach which person and which channel (in-app, email, SMS, push). Built so a fleet of 50 vehicles doesn't drown your phone in SMS.
Alert types
- Speeding — vehicle exceeded its configured speed limit.
- HarshBraking / HarshAcceleration — high-G events from the device's accelerometer.
- IdleExcess — engine on without movement past your idle threshold.
- Geofence — entered or left a defined zone.
- FuelAnomaly / LowFuel / RefuelEvent — siphon detection + tank events.
- TemperatureExcursion / Overweight — sensor / load anomalies (advanced devices).
- Accident — crash heuristic from accelerometer + ignition signature.
- DeviceOffline — tracker hasn't reported in 15 min.
Recommended setup
Each tenant typically wants something like this. Adjust to taste.
Admins / overseers
Three rows per admin:
- Row A: All except Speeding/HarshBraking/HarshAcceleration/IdleExcess · Channels: In-App + Email.
- Row B: Accident + DeviceOffline · Channels: SMS only.
- Row C: All · Channels: In-App only — keeps the dashboard badge live without phone-buzz.
Drivers
- One row: Accident · Channels: In-App + SMS — the driver sees their own crash event in their pocket.
Why this split. Speeding / harsh-braking / idle alerts fire often;
emailing those would flood inboxes. Accident + offline are rare but always worth a
phone-buzz.
Add a recipient
- Open Settings → Alert recipients.
- Tap + Add recipient. Pick the team member, choose the alert types (multi-select), and pick the channels.
- Save. The new row appears in the table immediately; the next matching alert dispatches via the configured channels.
